Back in the day, no one thought twice about having to exit their car to open and shut their garage door. That is just the way life was. No matter how hard it rained or how deep the snow, they had to get out into the weather if they were going to get their car inside. Those old doors were heavy and sometimes balked when people tried to move them. In addition, it can be dangerous getting out of your car in the dark. A friend of mine tried to do that and was assaulted, right in her own driveway. With the advent of automatic garage door openers, the whole process of dealing with a garage door became significantly easier and safer, and it is no wonder that everyone today wants to have one.
A garage door that matches the style of your home with the built-in security of an automatic opener will increase both the curb appeal and the value of your home. The most commonly-used doors are made of steel. Steel doors are almost maintenance free, and they are nearly impossible to break through. Garage security is a must for most people because of the number of possessions that are stored there. Some people prefer the look of a wooden door. After all, wood can be finished to appear very rustic or extremely elegant. There is nothing wrong with a wooden door, but it will be more work maintaining it.
It may not be the kind of problem that is preventing you from accessing your home, but excessive noise can certainly be an annoyance. Often, it takes little more than a bit of maintenance to get things back to blessed silence. At most, you may have to replace a few of the parts that have worn out. Get out your socket wrench and make sure all the nuts are tightened properly. Be careful that you do not over-tighten or strip them, something that is easy to do with power tools and with nuts that have not been properly lubricated. You may also try replacing the rollers. Though if you have torsion springs, you need to leave this garage door repair to professionals.
